metabolizing calories at a normal human rate and needing food are 2 different things. If she uses magic, as you imply, her net calories for the day would be 0 since the magic would sustain her. If she then ate food, it would increase the net calories, thus making her gain weight. Even IF she forgets to eat, her net caloric intake would still be 0.

So either you are wrong about her not needing food for sustenance or you are right and she gets fat from just eating
