>The whole series had great animation but that is secondhand.

Well the visuals, imagery, and aesthetics were very top notch. And the episode wasn't pointless at all, since the series is mostly about the Japanese people and their reactions to Shounen Bat. His existence affected all of their lives in different ways.

>Watchmen??? Alan Moore added character depth in New York for the sole purpose of Veidt's Monster

No, the depth came with the supporting characters. Alot of depth was given to the main characters, but what made it break new ground, was it's focus on the regular folks. They were the main characters, and that's what gave the story it's emotional impact, and realism. "Paranoia Agent" does it a bit different, but it's depth is apparent throughout, because of it's focus on the side characters.

>Ok...that's your opinion.

It's pretty much a fact. Many layers are given the story, and characters in every episode. You either weren't paying attention, or you just didn't like it's approach.
