MM is not only losing their own identity as an idol group with this, but the songs themselves are becoming rather pretentious and artificial as well.

No, and that's what MM in essence is doing, I'm aware that Tsunku is shitting in his pants at the thought that if he made a new Mikan that might bomb, but he needs to understand that MM won't be able to compete with other idol groups by having them just singing these sappy derivative songs one after another.
