Well Thessaloniki is a good place for cultural events, or maybe you could go to the Patras Carnival if you go during January. Otherwise you could go to Kerkyra (corfu), there are always events going on there (there is an old marching band competition I think). There are also a lot of small, traditional towns in Northern Greece which you would prefer if you dont like such hot weather. (picture related).
