I'd recommend starting with Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil, since it is the first of the windows games. Easiest one is by far Imperishable Night, though. I was able to 1cc that on normal barely a week after getting into the series.
The English patches, as has already been mentioned, can be found on the touhou wiki.
