I find this particular wall of text relevant to the hero discussion. Yes, I'll delete it. I generally interpret it less as divine predestination and more a fire in your belly that earns you favor with the gods and marks you as a potential hero.

Not to mention that the valkyrie is already twisted by the demon lord's influence. They already hear their own lusts as the voice of god. It doesn't seem like a far stretch that they might see some kind of burning desire to do good in the world as a sign of divine favor.
