Fair enough,it has yet to be discovered properly in the West, but there are just so many girl rock groups in the Japanese music scene, it's obvious that the author just found out about it and thinks it's a new phenomenon.

And even though it's such a short article there are still so many things wrong with it.

-The "young" girls are probably older than the author
-The maid culture isn't a sexual thing in Japan
-Girls in the Western music scene are far more sexualized than in Japan
-If they want to dress up and be attractive, it's not gross.

Well they did abandon both the kawaii elments and the heaviness for this newest song.

How they went from Akumu No Rondo and Song No Uta to this is really troubling. Even iine and Doki Doki Morning was heavier and more kawaii than this.


I want to give it the benefit of the doubt since it was recorded with a potato.... but still... this was a not-good thing to wake up to, I'm really worried about babymetal's future now.

I don't know about that. The mainstream audience really doesn't care about metal either way, their haters are all metal purists and even those are losing steam now.
Either because they finally caved in and are now Babymetal fans, or at least admitted that they're "metal", or they just moved on with their metal-purist lives.

Unless some sort of weird idol-purist thing happens in Japan where they get mad at Babymetal for playing with a live band or something or snubbing TIF every year and not collaborating with Momoiro Clover or something, they have nowhere to go but up
