Mai-chan's illness was a secret blessing. Seeing the older generations interact with the newer generations is what gives a sense of continuity to the group, and soothes the soul of the devotee. We see in flesh the line linking this time to that, and through these interactions we even feel the presence of the graduated members in the current squadron.
Her illness-related hiatus pushed back Mai-chan's graduation and gave us the chance to see more of these precious interactions.
