It feels free of any obstructions or unwanted objects. It is easier to produce them as I work within a strict number of colors at the start and can get a lot more crisp detail with hatching.

The images also have to be displayed at 200% original size so so they need to be as sharp as possible.

I also have had great difficulty in reproducing the quality that games like "the dig" had. I can't quite figure out the method because if I did I would much prefer to do it that way but so far look okay at the native size but don't keep a decent level of quality when enlarged unlike they managed.

I have a few more ideas I might try as I still have a few more backgrounds and areas to sketch out so I can try to figure out how to do it.

The attached image isn't related to the project but it's an idea of how something at 100% can look okay, specifically the ground I think looks nice, but then becomes a rough mess when scaled to the final size. If I can solve this then I'd love to do it this way because it allows me to do more.
