Though Toby did encourage him at the time ZUN claimed he was already planning to bring games to steam. Could've indeed been Tasofro. I'd believe it, they wore him down over a long time.
The only claim made was that Toby Fox was asking for official TLs, which was what ZUN was a bit surprised by--at the prospect of people really wanting that. Well, official TLs aren't likely though.

I don't like, loathe Ruw personally, he just comes across as smug and hardheaded. This is why in the first of these threads I at least was saying "don't bother talking to him". 1) such people don't get convinced of things and 2) they'll just take the arguments in bad faith

Thusly the only big issue is with PC-98's legacy though that brings up an old idea of traditionalism, imo.
Nobody's really bringing it up but it's perfectly possible that ZUN would prefer the PC-98 games sinking into oblivion. I mean, is there ANY indication otherwise? Quite the opposite. He's never sold them, doesn't officially acknowledge them, and when asked about them during the windows transition seemed to refer to them with some embarrassment as he insisted treating windows as a blank slate.
They WERE games he made when he was very young. I wouldn't be surprised.
It might bother people, but like... even in Japan, you cannot legally/easily obtain Touhou 1-5.

I think the newmeme terms applicable are moreso "cringe", "seething", and/or "obsessed" to spot a person silently appreciating your work, block them, and then start sperging over the next hour.
