Strange, then again, I don't use my shop to sell food but gear that I find in dungeons. 4k per month sounds a bit low. It's been a long time since I've done the food sell hustle so I'm not too sure about the profit scaling in regards to cooking skill and superior product though. If you're only making 4k a month selling your food maybe your shopkeeper isn't selling enough or there is a problem with your shop? Pretty much this >>15430446
if that's the case. Check to see just how good of a salesman your shopkeeper is by selling to a normal vendor. Might be better to just sell your food to a normal vendor and if that's the case your shopkeeper needs some training. Are you following this? >>15424599. That's pretty much what I did. Selling food can be a relatively safe way to produce a good amount of gold. Especially if you have a ton of farms cranking out plants and fruits with bonuses.
