I suggest to not feed the "hurr vlc bad" troll.

And MPC-HC with MadVR can be spectacular if set up right, but is a pain in the ass to set up right. VLC is fine for quick jobs if you don't feel like setting shit up, also is most convenient for playing straight from ISOs.
