The older games don't fuck around on lunatic. PCB stage 5 alone has given me more "how the fuck do i dodge this" moments than all of 16 combined.

Sakuya is just a plain maid. Rumia is also too plain.
Letty and Prismrivers are forgettable, and Yukari PCB dress is the plainest thing for the so-called Phantasm boss. It's just a fucking plain purple dress with some ribbons, a huge step down from Yuyuko and Ran.
So what does it mean? That Touhou has design has always been hit or miss? I always say has ZUN lost his touch since earlier games but then again Yuuka and Raiko has similiar basic design concept with different look. Same with IN Yukari and Junko, Chen and Kyoko/Yoshika, Sanae and Futo, Nitori and Mamizou, Yuyuko and Shinmyoumaru, Suika and Seija, Tewi and Seiran, Sagume and moonbitches, Wriggle and Aunn, Medicine and Mai/Satono, Iku and Eika, Yuugi and Yachie, etc. You can switch both the first three stages bosses of IN and DDC with each other along with slight plot modification and they will fit right in, or IN with LoLK.
Does that mean that Touhou has always been shit since the beginning because basically there are similiarities between new and old design? That almost each game also has design freak like Flandre, Suwako, Satori, Nue, Miko, Clownpiece, etc? Is "earlier is better" just an illusion because Eirin "half blue-half red nurse with granny braid" and Eiki "Kenshiro design with dumbest hat and unmatching green hair" exist? I'm fucking confused.

How common is furigana in Japan? My speaking level is passable and I can read just fine, but I seriously cannot get the hang of kanji. Would I be fine if my kanji lagged behind if I actually went to Japan?
