Honestly contemplating starting doing sentence cards.

With vocab cards, I really have to restrict myself to mining only words which I have some familiarity with already because if I mine a word after only seeing it once I'll quickly forget the context I saw it in and will be stuck reviewing and trying to remember it based only on a shitty J-E "definition", and I just don't see it sticking in my head that way. This acts as quite an impediment to acquiring vocabulary because some words show up so infrequently that becoming familiar with them (getting to the point where I can mine them in vocab card format) takes a very long time, and by then one has to ask the question "if I'm already familiar with this word, do I really even need to mine it?".

Some might suggest putting sentences on the backs of my cards as a remedy, but being honest, if I were to do that I have no doubt that I would just ignore them, and I bet so do 99% of people here who do put sentences on the backs of their card already.

With sentence cards there would really be no restrictions on what I could mine beyond the suitability of the sentence I found the word in.
