Damn I fucking suck, I sometimes stumble over the simplest sentences there are.
I interpret the sentence wrong and it makes no fucking sense.

Like this sentence for example
「真琴ちゃんは自分のことになると、急に厳しくなるんだもん」

For some reason I thought 自分 is referring to the speaker himself, not makoto the topic, so naturally what comes after it made no fucking sense.

I feel like I'm not making any progress, I read and while I understand whats going on 95% of the time, there is often a sentence where I think I missed a detail or every now and then I completely fail to understand like in my example.
The thing is I don't really notice that I'm improving, I feel like I learn one thing but forgot the other and there are a few words I have to look up every single time, cause I just can't get used to the concept of said word, how it works in what way it can be used.
