I understand that, anon. I haven't even gotten any 1cc, and have a history of just giving up on things in my life. The only thing really keeping me running into the wall with this series is that it feels so good when i finally get to a certain landmark without using up a continue. I usually only do one or two runs a day, though.

It's good to push yourself in life, but you shouldn't let yourself feel awful because of it. If you get to a spell card or a stage or even just a non-spell that you couldn't get to before, then you're improving, and that's a small enough reason to keep going.

Nope, perhaps you were just rushing yourself a little.
I read TK pretty slowly, finishing it around the time I hit 2k in the core. After that I started reading manga without issue, and started a mining deck on the side. I didn't read Yotsuba though, I started off with 三ツ星カラーズ and then 悪の華。

I wouldn't worry then, if you haven't played much from shmups before trying Touhou. The climb to your first 1cc is pretty tough but you'll get there, and after you get that first one you'll start knocking the other games down like dominos with your acquired skill (at least on Normal; the higher difficulties are their own beasts that require similar climbs). Don't lose hope so soon.

There's your problem. I played "on and off" for like a year and made no progress whatsoever. The way to git gud is to practice often and practice consistently. When you're learning the basics, practicing daily is very important, even if you can only practice for 10-20 minutes on some days. Once I stuck to that philosophy, I got my first 1cc within a month.

I'm aware I'm over the threshold of acceptable slowdown in this replay, I was playing on a mega-toaster at the time and parts of the game just dragged things to a crawl with how much ice was being destroyed. I really don't want to have to beat this route again for the sake of getting one with acceptable slowdown.

I spent a long time trying to 1cc Great Fairy Wars on any route. Built up a lot of skill, then decided to take a break and attempt to beat Ran. That didn't go well, and I went back to GFW only for my skill regarding that specific game to have declined. I was heartbroken, but went back at it and tried again. I got as good as I was before, and eventually got that 1cc.

Don't EVER give up, anon. No matter how many people tell you to stop or skip or whatever, never give up, always try again. If you make your pursuit relentless, you WILL overcome.

Also remember that your first 1cc will be the hardest. It took me a year of on-and-off attempts to clear EoSD, and then when I moved on to SoEW (I wanted to go back and play the PC-98s before I got too comfortable with Windows, it was a good move) it only took me a month. LLS and MS were kind of wonky since the former is relatively easy and the latter is relatively hard, but when I went back to Windows I was knocking out games within a week of each other, until SA and its difficulty spike fucked my shit up. Once you overcome the hurdle of your first 1cc, it gets easier.

That was my entire PCB situation.I died to Alice but instead of restarting I chose to press on.
Because of this,I have now 1cced PCB.Don't throw runs at the slightest mistake,although I am guilty of doing this but try to reduce it,it might be the ONE run to your 1cc.
