1) The announcement was made in the middle of a timeslot already assigned to AKB, they could do anything they felt like for all it's worth. It's not like the program schedule was disrupted because of this.
2) You say that Kouhaku shouldn't be used for personal purposes and yet you claim that "it was the retirement show" for another showman? By the same logic why didn't he do it at some enka event or something if he cared so much?
3) In the end both of them received extensive press coverage in the following weeks, in individual interviews they were also made to comment about each other's graduation so not only they didn't they steal each other's limelight as you say, but eventually it turned into a big cross promotion.
4) Whether or not she stole the thunder, it's determined exclusively by gossip press and how long they'll cover the news afterward. If newspapers really didn't find it worth mentioning, they would've just dropped the matter one day later with a short notice, but obviously they didn't and instead saw it as apportunity to kick up a media frenzy for their own benefit.
5) In the end the only ones who whined were fans of those performers whose performances were unmemorable to begin with. These performers were already at the bottom of the priority list in terms of press coverage, and with Yuko's announcement they feared they would be completely expurged from next day's news to make room for more pressing matters. Guess who was among these crybabies? Hint: it starts with 'Momoiro' and ends with 'Clover'.
6) Of course, you can't compare Amina to a super senbatsu member such as Yuko. Let's not be silly.
