I have no idea how people get so good at this. I've played maybe 12 or 14 games against people and scored last in all but one. I understand the rules and concepts but it seems like I either get a bad hand and someone else declares a win first, or when I finally declare riichi nobody discards the tile I need. Or in a few cases the tile I declared riichi with netted someone else a win. I did great against AI but I just get destroyed when playing against people even in beginner lobbies. I've only recently learned to play, so I'm not really sure how to decide which tiles to discard, I think that's what keeps doing me in. Either that or the Chinese I'm playing against are just Mahjong wizards.

Whatever happened to the old Mahjong generals anyways? I regret missing them now that I've been learning to play.
