I'm going to spitball an idea without any basis. If Une or someone that looks like her is behind all this, I'm going to lose it.
I just realized that in Outbreak, Une wanted to eat the entire human race.

Lambda said only a gamemaster can know its full signifigance iirc. I prefer to think of it as a collective agreement among gamepieces/individuals because it acts as an alternative to the red truth. Lambda said that the gold truth can be stronger and weaker than the red truth. To give a parallel, the gold truth is similar to science; a collective agreement upon all parties on the understanding of reality.

For example, everyone on the island agreed that the corpse was Kinzo because of the toe, but it could have been a body double. However, since everyone agreed, it became a gold truth. It absolutely could have been a body double from some random person with a 6th toe, but everyone agreed that it was Kinzo. The red truth would have confirmed that it is Kinzo or not but a detective cannot use magic as his reasoning, but they can use a gold truth. This is why Lambda also calls the gold truth a human truth.
