Are you sure about that? Age doesn't seem to be an issue in and of itself. You just need to have the right brain.

Ishak is also old as fuck for a knight and he's doing fine, even if he's not the best. They are probably born with DID and have naturally high P3 levels. Or they could be multitasking geniuses like Jayden.

Being old is only bad if your brain is relatively normal, because at that point it doesn't have enough plasticity for PP training to influence its development. It's stuck that way and makes it hard to even use a mental tablet without concentrating hard.

So theoretically someone with the right brain, who is capable of multitasking at a high level, including all gauntlet knights in the story, shouldn't have problems using them even 20 or 40 years into the future. Age doesn't matter as long as you don't develop alzheimer's or some shit.

If someone is not that young but their brain is used to multitasking and shaped correctly, PP training might not be that effective for them but will still make a difference. It's enough for them to be good gauntlet knights.

Also, it's mentioned that some of them are mostly there for their support skills, like in Rethabile and Lingji's kette where they are the main unit and the others are only there because they coordinate well with them, even if their P3 levels are average.
