there is no remake, but you can install that pack and you'll get to enjoy the cool ps3 version voice acting, new sprites and animations
the steam version works without issues on all hardware

you could read higurashi and saikoroshi first, but it's optional and umineko works just fine as a standalone work
it might even be better to read umineko first, as then you'll go in without preexisting biases that will colour your interpretations of what's going on

also, close this thread asap and don't open it again before you've finished the vn to avoid the barrage of spoilers that gets posted here all the time
