That argument wasn't based off of their own interpretations of an undetermined subject, and at least one of them seemed glad enough to try and comprehend the other side. Therefore, it was productive. The lorefags are no different from two drunks screaming at each other, nothing comes out of it other than exaustion for everyone involved.
A discussion should begin with both parties acknoledging that they don't know everything about the world and the subject in question, and, by explaining their points of view to each other, both can, together, rebuilt their conceptions of the situation into a greater understanding based on both points of view.
