Think of it this way: Interstellar travel is like a road trip after you've spent your whole life living in some backwater village. Only instead of travelling across states or continents, you're travelling across solar systems. Instead of sightseeing at local tourist attractions, you're watching stars and planets and comets.

And that's not even leaving our own solar system. When you're at the point where you're travelling across galaxies, you're going to see all sorts of stupidly awesome shit. Supernovas, black holes, maybe the occasional quasar, binary systems, nebulas that put the prettiest sunsets to shame...

Space is quite big, Anon. It has a lot going for it, even by a purely quantitive measure.
