My autism is too powerful so I'm going to reply but it's well meaning.
The distinction is actually helpful to convey an idea of what the gameplay is like. "Roguelike" specifically refers to games which play like the original Rogue, that being turn based top down dungeon crawlers with no meta-progression. Some severe autists will also insist that ASCII graphics are mandatory, but you can ignore this. Nethack is still a Roguelike, for example.
"Roguelite" is not a universally accepted term, but it rolls off the tongue better than "Game in literally any other genre which happens to also include Roguelike elements". Hades does not play like FTL, which does not play like Dead Cells, which does not play like Invisible Inc. which does not play like The Binding of Isaac, and so on. All of them, however, are based on having short runs, randomized environments, relatively high difficulty/challenge, and - as opposed to traditional Roguelikes - meta-progression, like the Mirror of Darkness in Hades, the Forge in Dead Cells, etc.
It's just helpful to distinguish whether you're talking about games that have these elements but can play in various different ways, or specifically pic related.
