be a true nihonjin and read eat manga and watch anime until you are about a 10 yo level then read lns and vns until you are at a 18 yo level then move to japan and work a soul sucking job until you kill yourself.

as someone who has been studying for almost 2 years i can say that interest in media is necessary, your exitement fades quick but at least I got my animes and lns.

I have watched more raw anime than subbed at this point. I honestly hate subs. raw is better than sub for learning jap so why advise people to watch subs.

残念 sad to hear that. Honestly I enjoyed raw anime from the beginning. But I understood a littlebit of anime when I started as I ate like 10 manga and a couple vns before starting so that might of helped a bit. I am at the point where I can uderstand at least 80% of any anime and like at least 95% of a slice of life. I regret not starting raws earlier as it helped my reading a ton too, but if you hate raw anime I might suggest to read a couple voiced vns before starting at it.

I rarely look up words when I read but when I do I use english as it is objectively faster. All you need from a definition is a general idea any more is wasting your time.
