が is the subject marker, it cannot be an object marker as it marks the subject, を is the object marker.
In the first sentence
りんごがすきです。
すき is an adjectival noun (lit. a thing your heart is attracted to)
Apples are pleasing (to me). : Subject is Apples, there is no object.

（私が）りんごを好む。
I like apples : Subject is 'I', object is 'apples'
