I think that's the case with all waifufags. I think we're more in love with the our conception of the character rather than what you can see.
It happens more often when there isn't that much material of the character and you've been together for so long the character gets warped in your mind. Happened to that japanese guy that draws suigintous that don't look like suigintous at all
