Yeah, I started stockpiling on 07/27, two weeks are more than enough for that if your fleet is in good shape. As you're saying, rest of the time should be spent on improving the fleet.
My resources would look much better but I was working full time back then so it was hard to sparkle expeditions and send them out on time. This time I'll probably start stockpiling only a week ahead and most of it will likely be spent on Maruyu if the event does turn out to be easy.

Word of advice: stockpiling doesn't mean you can't sortie. Quite the contrary, one should clear all the weeklies, no excuses. Screws are important.

Ex2 all day and sparkled 5/38. Sparkled 3 out of 13/24/35/37/38/40 overnight. If you want to use more supports or Hotels, consider 21 or 37 instead of 38.

Just don't waste it in PvP and it will accumulate naturally.
The only bauxite expeditions I did were 35 overnight. Everything else came from quests (do them) and ex5. Oh, also a bit from doing World 2 daily on 2-2.
