Kind of a prequel actually. It happens before the original manga but you can legit skip 0 because it has very little to do with the rest of the manga and for that reason it feels wrong to call it a prequel. There's no big "wow that explains a lot!" moments in 0 that enhances your understanding of the rest of the manga. It's simply past events with no impact on the dolls who appear.

Plus they retconned (or plain forgot) that the dolls sleep in the N-field between masters to them fucking around in the miniature garden between masters just to shoe-in Hina and Kanaria appearing in it. It irritates me so much.
