What are your thoughts on Strike Witches? Is the fanservice a foil to the potential enjoyment you can get from it, or on the contrary, does it make it better?

Personally, I think this is the final result of otaku fanservice. Not just for the young girls and low camera setups, but for the WWII trivia interspersed in the whole series, which shows that at the very least Gonzo did the research. The Strike units design and use of military hardware is a recent history otaku's wet dream.

It might not be the best series out there, but it remained entertaining and a thoroughly pleasant surprise.
