There are two camps on this matter. The first considers the "100 year old" thing simply an excuse to avoid government censorship and guilt on the part of the fans. To the second actually loves it. They are very much possible to understand. Whatever you want to call them, those girlish 100+ year old youkai and similar characters possess a unique combination of innocence and experience. If a man is attracted to both, the 100 year old youkai combines them into something that stimulates these desires simultaneously. It is an assault our ape brains weren't built to withstand, and they end up hooked on this type, or so I understand it.
