That's a very short sighted way of thinking. I was feeling pretty meh about the franchise also until DDC. But now back to a little bit meh. Who's to say the next game won't peak my interest though? Why quit when you can just wait?

Really I think that's the cycle. For me the games alone are only a few hours of enjoyment when they come out. But doujins add value to the series indefinitely. While this set of newhus has a very muted color pallet and dull costuming I'm sure they'll become much more appealing portrayed by other artists.
