Anon i don't know the context but think of it like this: according to Marcus Aurelius grandparents should be the people who are willing to put their assets where their mouths are when it comes to supporting their grandchildren not out of duty but love. There's nothing wrong with it if you aren't using them or they aren't using you in some way.
Its a sign they love you and you've nurtured your relationships to the point where they would blow money on you because they believe in you and the bond you share. It would not get in the way of your relationship.
My own granny helped me out of a tight spot a long time ago when I was in need of dismissing a warrant I had on my by lending me 3000 dollars to pay a lawyer and other associated costs then let me have the remainder. It wasn't a case of reducing our relationship at all. It was because we were close in the first place that it happened and our bond was not reduced in anyway.
