I'm almost finishing Loopers.

I can see why there are complaints about it being too short now.

The initial set up is good, but a lot of the stuff there just isn't explored enough afterwards, like loopers losing their minds and becomings beasts. You hear the survivors talking about a past event briefly a few times, but it never comes up in the main story, which just seems kind of crazy to me, to throw that set up and leave it as only backstory.

Also, only Hilda and Leona feel like they had fully realized backstories and characters tied to it, even the protagonist and his love interest don't really have much going on.
