Too much effort for too little payoff. Beato is at least an engaging antagonist from the start because she's different and also isn't the protagonist. If the story wasn't told from his perspective, then it'd be possible to read because I could ignore him when he isn't on screen. He reminds me a lot of Rand Al'thor from The Wheel of Time, when I really think about it, but without the things that make him interesting.

Stop making Beatrice out to be moe.

She is a killer who killed people a shitton ton of times.
She force fed people their siblings and child roasted whole with apples.
Her party is full of demons who ate people.
She's cruel sadistic and a liar.
She cares not for the sanctity of life or the diginity of the dead.

She may look like a hot bomb shell, all beautiful in her elegant dress. She may be sexy in her school uniform thigh high combo. But she's evil to the goddamn core. No amount of sympathetic background will make me forgive her for the heart wrenching gut tearing betrayal I've felt from that woman.
