It must be so frustrating for the village men. Got this dynamite woman in their life just as their hitting puberty, developing all sorts of crushes on her. Hot for teacher. Probably lots of "When I grow up, I'm gonna marry you!" sort of stuff.
Normally that'd work itself out. Kids grow up, graduate, stop seeing her around and move on. And if they do, they'll both be older, it won't be the same. But that's not the case with Keine. She doesn't visibly age, and she's a regular sight around town, so the affection doesn't fade. They'd notice more perks as they mature too, realize how good a wife and mother she'd make. She's even single!
So then, naturally, you get these guys who've been crushing on her since their youth perusing her in adulthood Her being half-youkai will weed some out, sure, but all of them? No way. Definitely has a pretty sizable bunch of fans.
And she shoots every single god damn one of them down. Not harshly, she's nice, but rejects them all the same, again and again, one after the other, for literal decades. The perfect wife that dozens of men have been set on since puberty, and not a single one of them can have her. And everyone knows it.
Must be so, so frustrating.

She wouldn't be the funnest mom, but she'd raise her kids right, no question's asked. Objectively excellent wife too!

I think I might have a good way of explaining the difference between folklore, folktales, mythology, fairy tales, modernity, and Touhou:

>Folklore.
"Don't go into the woods alone, fairies dwell there."

>Folktale.
"Listen to this story about why you shouldn't go into the woods alone."

>Mythology.
"This is why there are fairies in that wood."

>Fairy tales.
"This is a story about woods with fairies in them."

>Modernity.
"There are no fairies in that wood, but it is still dangerous enough that you shouldn't travel alone through it."

>Touhou.
"There used to be fairies in that wood. They abducted people because of their nature, nowadays they play pranks on cattle. Also their queen is a Jojo's bizarre adventure reference."

All these names, basically the ones written in katakana, are pronounced with foreign pronunciation (most often in english, but it can be other foreign languages like french, spanish, italian, etc...). And if it sounds different in japanese, it's just their pronunciation and the fact that theirs sounds are different than ours.

you pronounce her like this http://en.touhouwiki.net/images/8/8c/Pronunciation_KeineKamishirasawa.ogg

You're probably not alone when you look at all these retards who keep mispronouncing everything.
And you should stop. It's pronounced mokō, same for youmu, it's pronounced yōmu.

http://en.touhouwiki.net/images/6/6e/Pronunciation_YoumuKonpaku.ogg
So many people keep pronouncing "two hoes" and this is the most cringy thing. It's pronounced like "t'oh, oh".
(you guys should check the vocal pronunciation for all the characters on the touhouwiki, some people would look less stupid thanks to that.)

Talking about mistakes, no one ever noticed the romaji transcriptions fail from the official names.

Rumia is actually Lumia.
Doremy is actually Dreamy.
I still dont understand why the fandom kept these mistakes when they figured all the others out, since they don't say: "Fuziwara", "Saigyouzi", "Kotiya", etc..

Anyway, for the japanese pronunciation, here's some tips for the noobs:
1) Don't pronounce any "hoe" sounds. The u is mostly pronounced "ɥ" (like the french "u"). (there are some variations but you shouldn't count on it)

2) The "ou" is not pronounced "hoe" either, it's pronounced like a long "oooh". You actually transcript it with ō.
And that ō is used in tōhō, yōmu, mokō, etc... But also in Tōkyō. People don't even write Toukyou. And if you say "2 K'you" people will assume you have a brain disease. And it's actually the same for all the others "ou" or "ō" sounds.

3) Foreign names are meant to be pronounced with the original accent, japanese people can't imitate all the sounds, but we don't have to replicate their pronunciation mistakes. And so many people make these mistakes. E.g. pronouncing waifu instead of wife. It's as stupid as pronouncing "kurowassan" to say croissant.

>No one ever said that everyone on this board was speaking/learning Japanese.

And if you want to be motivated to speak the language, interest yourself in history, actual culture, traditions, mythology, religion, arts, etc... of the country.
Do NOT try to learn the language just because you like manga, animes, games, japanese pop culture, commercial medias, etc...
These are the worst reasons ever, you'll be despised by everyone —japanese people included— and you'll eventually give up because it's not a strong enough reason to go through that hard work.

You'll really get motivated if you know japanese people or have a reason to talk with them, communicate and discover things.
If you're just a weaboo neet browsing memes on the web, watching animes and playing games, you shouldn't try to learn this language.

So, tell us, why do you want to learn Japanese?

This, this, this! The lack of attention Keine-sensei gets in proportion to how wonderful she is is downright criminal!
