I can't say there's a lot of "darkness" in Tsukihime at all.

There's some angst about having to kill Satsuki, and he has a few periods of madness when Roa's inside him in Ciel's route, and when SHIKI is torturing himself in Hisui's route. Other than that Shiki tends to go with the flow, and his life is mostly unhampered. Kohaku's life was pretty dark, but while it's treated seriously, it's not treated "grimly". It's just part of the story.
