Selcom is nightmare fuel for any helicopter parent. Imagine knowing your daughter could have disabled the filters, looked up all sorts of porn and sent nudes to multiple people. The helicopter parent would NEVER be able to tell if this is happening or not, because there's no way to check her brain and she would obviously lie and pretend she has no idea. Whether your daughter is a 7th grade Selcomwhore or genuinely pure and innocent, you can never know for sure and will always live with the paranoia. At that point it would become something that everyone begrudgingly accepts and doesn't think about, because it's impossible to do anything about it. Imagine how cucked those parents would feel! I assume this is all canon, just not something the story focuses on.
