I have never seen a platypus in real life. Does that stop me from identifying the creature in this picture as a platypus only because I've seen countless sources name it as such, including Google-sensei that provided me with this picture for the purpose of my favorite argument device? Do you know what data analysis is? Also, if I wished to check with a community of people that presumably are experts in the matter of Australian fauna, I would be reassured that it's indeed a platypus.
