Reimu wasn't against the idea of men and youkai being together ideologically like Akyuu was. Akyuu spent much of her time writing pamphlets on the dangers on consorting with youkai and her suggestions for dealing with this issue were quite horrific. Even someone with as little romantic experience as Reimu realized that the woman really needed to get laid. Reimu didn't care about who shacked up with who as long as it it didn't cause any major issues for her. But that was her problem with the whole thing, it caused nothing but problems for her.

Youkai weren't exactly rational beings to begin with, but introducing love or lust into the picture made them act up wildly. A youaki convinced she was in love would be anything to seal the deal and get her hands on the object of her desires. Fighting them off was a hassle especially when they would just attempt to secure him again after they've licked their wounds. Can't save them all, she thought. Even if the two partners were both into the agreement, it put her in the awkward position to explain that someone's one son or coworker wasn't abducted and killed but rather ran away to plow some kappa or something.

But the worse part was when she found herself blaming the men for all of it. When the first few men came to her admitting a youkai raped him she was quite sympathetic and did her best to solve the matter in way that would maintain their dignity. But then it kept happening, and Reimu started to notice a pattern forming. To her, these men were ignoring a lot of red flags. Following strange women around, walking outside the village alone at night, Either these men were really stupid, or really loose. But if they were really that easy to bed, then wouldn't women like Akyuu have an easy time? Ugh, maybe they just liked youkai, she didn't get it.
