It doesn't promote life, but it promotes the value of life. Life is only as valuable as you think it is and seeing things that remind you that you will also die will make you value life more than you used to. If you feel like you're invincible then you won't value life at all because you will believe that you have an eternity to do whatever you want to do in life and then there's no reason to cherish each day. That's obviously not true, but if you have no concept of death then you will feel that way and it will make you see very little value in life.

It's like this with most things in life. You need opposites, it's the yin and yang of it all. Bob Ross said it best.

What is the best state if I want to live completely on my own?

I have a lot of growing experience and I've worked on farms for several years so working with the land isn't unfamiliar to me, but I'm sick of constantly hiding from the government and feeling paranoid. I enjoy taking psychedelic drugs for their spiritual value and I spend most of my time growing them, but I constantly have to hide it and I can never relax when I'm always one slip-up away from a prison sentence.

I want to live out in the middle of no where, some place where I can have the freedom to grow what I want and never have to see anyone. Some place where I don't have to quarantine myself in my own home so that neighbors won't see me when I'm tripping or need to do ridiculous things like exhaling smoke into a carbon filter sock so that no one will smell anything and call the police.
