Reimu is the kind of girl that nerfs herself, if she were to actually apply herself she'd be entirely unstoppable. This is why I like to believe Kasen and Yukari seem to keep her content and ignorant. Which isn't entirely head canon as a Reimu that properly did her job and trained herself to be better would see the Hakurei revive in full and truly endanger even the sages.
That's also what makes a yanmu so dangerous, you're not just dealing with her supernatural powers of luck and intuition along with her extreme sense of detection but you'd be dealing some of the biggest powers in Gensokyo that would be intent on keeping her dumb and happy.
