I agree, although I'd say in those days the actual releases had their own fads. Okay, sandy beaches are still used but I think the top DVDs back then had a lot of emphasis on more exotic locations and showing the idols casually interacting and moving about around Japan and even abroad whereas now they're more geared towards showing specific fetis...erm, scenes one after enother.
