Since the story of EVA incorporates the concept of religion in the West,
parts that are difficult for Japanese to understand became a factor that hit the contrary,
so it became a 2nd booster as 大人アニメ in Japanese modern anime history,
and also an origin the word 中ニ病 that it borned after EVA tv series, anyway.
If i say in the line (new word) used in this year's anime, 思春期症候群 in 青ブタ is one of them.

1st one is 機動戦士ガンダム 1st series, it is called ファースト・ガンダム, one of big legend titles.
This is also thought to be only a battle anime with huge robot weapons like EVA,
but the war has a well-written background that starts with the logic of selfish adults.

EVA is not WAR anime, though and only 新劇場版 series will end the next(4th episode
