looks like the problem with pop-up dictionaries breaking on pages with vertical text in firefox has finally been fixed for me... for yomichan only.

nazeka is still hopelessly slow and buggy on such pages, so i don't know what's going on there. yomichan in general seems way, way faster and more responsive than i remember it being so maybe some recent update to yomichan itself fixed some performance issue which was actually the cause of the problem all along.

yomichan is still not quite as fast as nazeka for me on normal pages but it's so fast now that it doesn't really matter. if only yomichan's dev would fix its awful anki integration which forces you to choose between definitions being formatted in a table or missing all the information tags (part of speech, numbers for definitions, etc.) i would seriously consider switching to it.
