Reimu hates old women

Am I the only one who feels really dejected and disappointed by most touhou extra bosses?
They used to be cool, they used to be imposing and horrifying. Now it's just "hmm I still need an extra stage boss for this game... what'll it be? oh I've got it, it's literally just drums!"
Where's the horror? Where's the suspense? Here's my objective ranking of touhou's extra bosses:

An immortal, blood hungry manic vampire. Now that's bone chillingly awesome.
In combination with 'U.N. Owen was her?', Flandre is the perfect example of a late victorian nightmare.
You can feel that this isn't an ordinary battle with a youkai, you're literally fighting for Reimu's life in that hellish extra stage.

Yukari. Or as I like to call her: man devouring serpant. She is imposing and powerful, maybe even on the level of the gods.
Not only is her theme song 'Necrofantasia' unrivaled in its intensity and sheer pressure, Yukari herself emits enough of an unholy aura that her battle would make even the most hardened shmup players sweat buckets without any music.

She's kinda alright, but kinda bland in comparison to the previous extra bosses too. I guess she's a phoenix, but her human design really doesn't make that clear at all.

Did that game even have an extra boss? I don't think so. Maybe ZUN should've kept that trend going after all.

After an intense and brutal battle beneath the deepest layers of the earth, surrounded by flames and lava, the extra boss is... a lovestruck little girl who shoots you with hearts.

I never got to her, but from what I've seen it's a tanuki? With glasses on. Glasses are the worst shit tier design choice for any girl character so that's that.

I guess black Pegasus is pretty cool, yeah she's a good boss after all. But I don't understand why she's called a horse when she clearly doesn't have hooves and a tail?

A minecraft reference. The worst one so far, she's not even connected to the main plot in any way.
