All birds lay unfertilized eggs, and all mature sexually-reproducing organisms release egglike female gametes, whether or not they have already been, are in the process of being, or are going to be fertilized. Women having periods every month is the homologous process to domestic hens laying an egg every day or a fir tree dropping pinecones. Unless youkai reproduce asexually by means of binary fission or something, there is no reason to believe they would not exhibit the same behavior.
