Even if he didn't state it, it's obvious to anyone that played ADOM that large parts of the game are taken directly from it. The starting town thief quest, the tower of fire, the puppy cave, the pyramid, equip stat notation/pv/dv system, corruption system, random dungeon generation are all EXACTLY the same. We're talking the guy creating the whole game as a homage to ADOM before it took on a life of its own. And adding his own wacky shit to it and making it a life-simulator was the best thing, because ADOM is boring as fuck.
