For me, I would say that I was a "true" weeaboo up through Middleschool/ Junior High through Freshman or Sophmore year of Highschool.

What killed it for me was

1)when I got a look at the fandom and how ridiculous it was. People were getting raging hard ons for the most ridiculous stuff, etc.
2) Lost in Translation kinda helped. I guess. I just thought it was a great movie.
3) I grew disillusioned with anime and Japan as figures of superiority for a number of Xbawks huege reasons.

My theory is that many of the individuals who delve into Weeabooism lack a definite heritage culture to identify with.

I don't know quite how to describe what makes Japan so appealing....but I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about.
