Don't Japanese folks have a bigger reputation of being "disconnected from reality", albeit maybe even just a stereotype, and they do handshake events all the time. To add on to what you are saying though, I can always imagine a fan taking it too far, but they really do have numerous amounts of staffing grabbing at you to move along during these things and the leniency is practically non-existent.

I haven't read this whole discussion but I think it would suck big time for there to be no handshake event at AX. As a gaijin wota, that is one of, if not the number one, thing I feel I'm most missing out on as a gaijin ;_;
